Has anyone been to the CandleLight? I am talking about the super dive place that is on the corner of 74th and Glisan.

My friends hate going there and I do not know why. It is not a bad place. They have no issues with the other diver bar across the street (The Hourglass) or as my friend and I call it. "The Chicken Shack”

They seem to have an aversion to the place. Are they seeing something that I am not?

I dig the Candlelight, especially for breakfast. Resonable prices and good service. I just don't go for the kareoke.

"The Chicken Shack" on the other hand, I wasn't too impressed by. Only have been once, though, for breakfast.

The thing with the Hour Glass...is the Jojo's. You WON'T be able to finish the small order...which is 4 jojo's....seriously. They are HUGE.

Very True on the size of the JoJo. I challenge most anyone to eat the large size they offer. Although I know a couple of people who could down the large size and ask for more.

I have to say I do like the some of the simple comfort food they have to offer. Especially the toasted cheese sandwich and a bag of chips for $3.50.

They also have pitchers of PBR for something like $5.25. I am never really sure of the true price it can’t be more than six. I not really sure of the price…. My friend and I always go and drink two pitchers and pay $15 bucks or so. We know the bartenteder fairly well and she would certainly tell us straight up to our faces if we were being miserly with our tips

hmmm...pitcher of PBR....not as "cool" as Miller High Lite, but still tasty none the less. I suppose Miller is going to be the new beer of the elitist hipster set?

              Back to the subject....

So folks what do you think of the Candle Light. Or should I just make the half mile trek down to Biddy's or the A&L?

The Alcoholics and Losers is a fantastic pub....just NOT NOT NOT on a weekend. Great food selection, and portions. On weekends Biddy's is nice and mellow. I'm not so much into massively loud and crowded bars..the candlelight is generally good for conversation, and some cheap beer.

Well... like I said, I dig the Candle Light. I just don't like the karaoke. When I go, I leave before the crappy singing starts. As to Biddy's, love to take dates there because you can talk. And the music is usually good. A&L is a sports bar. Ya get what ya pay for. Personally, I've been digging the new management of the Hutch, up on 47th and Glisan. We'll see how things turn out but I like the vibe. It's sort of like the Slut but with tall ceilings and an older crowd.

So, I say, go to the Candle Light and decide for yourself.

the candlelight is a family oriented place to go and have a ton of fun. The karaoke selection is huge and the hostess is very friendly and accomodating. The owner Jon is a hoot and a hell of a great guy. There's a new bartender Scotty, ladies he's CUTE!!! He is also very friendly. Yeah there are some crappy singers, but there are also some really good ones. Karaoke/dance is there Thurs-Sat 9pm-2(or so)am. You should tell anyone you know to go and check it out.
